Surfcoast Dance Company offers a fun, inclusive environment for those from Geelong, Torquay and throughout the Surfcoast, where everyone can share their passion and love of dance.
We foster each individual’s creativity and help develop discipline that can be taken from the studio into all areas of life.
We encourage everyone to strive to be their best, while encouraging others around them to do the same.
Our classes range from Tiny Tots (3 & 4 year old’s), right through to adult classes. Our Children’s classes include Ballet, Jazz & Musical Theatre.
We are delighted to teach Ballet Conservatoire at Surfcoast Dance Company. We offer exams in this syllabus: “This training program was founded 26 years ago by former Principal Artist with The Australian Ballet Christine Walsh A.M. as a result of 45 years experience as professional dancer and dance lecturer both in Australia and overseas.
Director of her own ballet school and production company, The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet (ACB), Christine developed the Ballet Conservatoire program based on her former training in the Russian method and her extensive professional international experience.
She adapted the existing 8 year Vaganova method into a 12 year training and examination program which enables ballet students to study this program from 5 years of age as part-time students progressing until pre-professional training.
The Ballet Conservatoire program is designed to suit the needs of all classical ballet students who are unable to take full-time daily dance training from an early age.”
We teach Australian Dance Vision (ADV) for our Jazz classes, this syllabus has a beautiful ‘whole dancer’ focus: “ADV provides a unique holistic Australian dance education program for students, teachers and parents.
With a vision of excellence for Australian Dance, ADV has evolved to become the premiere provider of professional dance education. Our examination syllabus covers classical ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary dance styles always recognising the ultimate “stakeholder” as the young dancers and teachers of the next generation.”
We also host an over 50s class called Great Groovers, which is a barre warm up followed by a jazz routine & includes a bit of brain training and activities targeting coordination and balance. This is a great way for people within our community to make new social connections in a fun setting. Movements within this class can be modified to accommodate various physical needs and abilities. Dancing for over 50s is great for:
